A dark movie with a light at the end, a light that is so beautiful that it will leave you in awe. The movie begins with eight-year-old Tim (Evan Bird) and his mother, Sarah (Julia Ormond) are picked up by a cab driver named Bob (Vincent D'Onofrio). The cab ride seems normal until Bob keeps driving and finally takes the mother and child to his house in a deserted location outside the suburbs. The mother tries to fight the situation but in vain, Bob disposes of her and returns for Tim. This is where the movie takes a turn, Instead of killing Tim he keeps him alive and makes Tim his slave, and gives him a new name “Rabbit”.
The days go by and Rabbit is helpless, days turn into months and months to years. Bob now looks at Rabbit (Eamon Farren) as his heir. He wants the young man to follow in his footsteps. Rabbit has to make a choice now, either follow Bob’s footsteps or get out. That’s the basic story, the movie has some gory scenes, not too gory but it will make you think twice before taking a cab. It’s definitely not for the faint of heart but I would suggest that you suck it up and watch this one. The ending is nothing short of beautiful, just leaves you breathless. There is a very nice suspense at the end of the movie too. Makes you wonder, sometimes being born human is the worst punishment there is.
